Federico Mondelci
Saxophonist
Mondelci has represented Italy at the World Saxophone Festivals in Germany,
Japan, USA, and Spain. In Italy, he has been soloist with all the major
orchestras, including the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala in Milan under Seiji
Ozawa. During recent seasons, Mondelci has frequently performed in Russia and
now enjoys a particularly close relationship with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra
conducted by Constantine Orbelian; their CD of Piazzolla Tangos on Delos was the
New York Times' “Pick of the Week.”
Since 1990, Mondelci has had an active conducting career throughout Italy and
Germany.
Last season, his duo with pianist Kathryn Stott appeared in Russia, Finland,
Italy, Spain, Germany and gave an extensive tour of the UK. Their recording for
Chandos was released in 2002. He was soloist withthe BBC Philharmonic in the
“Cyberbird Saxophone Concerto” by T. Yoshimatsu. He is a founding member of the
Italian Saxophone Saxophone Quartet, which will tour the U.S next March.
Upcoming performances of the 2009 season include the New Zealand Symphonic
Orchestra and St. Petersburg Philharmonic.
Constantine
Orbelian will be released later in 2006 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of
the composer's birth.
Mr. Gugnin performs in Russia's prestigious concert halls: the Large and Small,
the Rachmaninov Halls of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concertt Hall,
the Moscow International House of Music, with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra,
Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Dutch National orchestra. He’s toured Russia,
Germany, Italy, Israel, Holland and the USA.
