Mee-Hae RYO        cellist
Mee-Hae Ryo is currently one of the most recognized cellists in the Republic of Korea.
Her first encounter with this instrument began when she was six years old.
She studied at the world famous JUILLIARD MUSIC SCHOOL and finished her studies with a PHD degree in music at the University of Michigan/USA.
As a cellist she won a number of national and international cello competitions like the highly decorated Korean Joong-Ang Ilbo Music Competition and the Young Artists Music Competition in Fort Collins/Colorado/USA etc. Besides giving concerts as a soloist she is also a member of “Quartet Noblesse” which is a popular quartet in Korea.
As a very active concert cellist she had concerts in Europe and Korea as a soloist with Stradford orchestra of the swan in UK, the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Chamber Orchestra at Smetana Hall/Prague, Hradec Kralove Philharmonic, Toronto Philharmonic, Madeira Classical Players in Portugal, Kazakhstan National Symphony Orchestra, Korea Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Classical Players etc.
In January 2006 she had a CD-recording project of Schumann’s Cello Concerto with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, maestro Vladimir Valek conducting, to celebrate the composer’s 150th death. The CD was already released by SONY Classic
