The Philharmonic String Quartet Was founded in 2004 is a part of the Egyptian Philharmonic Society whose activities as a non governmental organization working on a non profit basis, have got high recognition during a short time.
Since its foundation, the quartet has appeared regularly in the chamber music series offered by the EPS in collaboration with the “Performing and Visual Arts Department” of the American University in Cairo. Its performances which have become an enriching contribution to the serious music life in Egypt were repeatedly praised by both public and press.
Activities of the quartet in the season 2007/2008 included appearances in the Kasr El-Fenoun Hall, the American University in Cairo, Ibdaa Centre in Alexandria., Assyout University and the Agakhan Foundation. Their tour to Kuwait in February 2008 was met with standing ovations. National and international tours are under planning.
