Sang-Hee Cheong        violinist
Sang-Hee started to play the violin, at the age of 6. She visited the Yewon Music School and in 2007 she moved to Vienna, where she is studying at the Vienna University of Music under prof. Edward Zienkowski.
She won many awards at various domestic competitions, including Kookmin daily newspaper, Eumyeon, Music Journal and Strad. Especially, she presented her outstanding achievements at the Hanseo University Competition and at the Brahms Competition and won the first Prize.
She also took part in several international music festivals, such as Leipzig Music Festival, France Pontlevoy Festival and the 1st and 2nd Daekwanlyoung International Music Festival, and she was recognized as an accomplished performer. In the Nagoya Music Festival in Japan, she won a prize in the competition.
Igor Ozim praised her beautiful sound and magnificent technique when she played the Vieuxtemps Concerto No.5 and said that “It was a great performance, which even I couldn’t make at her age”.
She appeared as soloist with the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra when she was 10years old performing Mendelssohn’s violin concerto. She also appeared with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Korean American Youth Orchestra and North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
In October 2007, she performed Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto with the State Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg where she had great success.
